2. For the same type of fire-retardant coating used in civil construction, expansion-type steel structure fire-retardant coatings require a re-inspection every 100 tons, while non-expansion type steel structure fire-retardant coatings require one every 500 tons.
3. In alkali metal silicates, free alkali metal ions are commonly present, which can react chemically with acids in the air and CO2.
4. Using alkali metal silicates alone as the base material for coatings can lead to poor water resistance, moisture resistance, and weathering resistance of the film, as well as issues such as cracking and powdering of the coating layer.
5. The basic composition of thick-coated steel structure fire-retardant coatings includes: binders (such as silicate cement, magnesium chloride oxide, or inorganic high-temperature binders), aggregates (such as expanded vermiculite, expanded perlite, aluminum silicate fiber, mineral wool, rock wool, etc.), chemical additives (such as modifiers, hardeners, waterproof agents, etc.), and water.
6. The binders used in fire-retardant coatings for steel structures, such as silicate cement, magnesium chloride oxide cement, and inorganic binders, commonly include alkali metal silicates or phosphates, among other substances.
