Zhanghu was one of my classmates, but he dropped out one year later when Finance Department urged him to pay his college bills and received no repay. Had not I visited his family, I would never have believed the poverty his whole family was suffering from. Farming was the main source of their limited family income, about $1000 per year, which could hardly feed five children and two physically disabled adults, let alone afford Zhanghu to complete his college education. It seems that children in (from) poor family can do nothing but follow hopelessly their parents’ footprints.
Who did ever tell us that knowledge reshapes destiny? Who did ever convince us that that has paid has the repayment? And who did cheat us with words “where there is a will, there is the way”? Did they ever glance at the reality that lacking of money had been cutting off thousands of talent children from proper education? I receive no answers. However, I am craving for a solution to this severe problem.
Government, in my opinion, should be the hero who can save these dropout students. It is true that a sharply growing number of university students have put increased strain on our country with vast education expenses, since the Ministry of Education expanded enrollment in 1999. The situation worsens when nowadays the global economy is been（has been） confronted with deterioration and many kinds of crises. But if our government abandoned her own children, who (maybe whom?) else can we seek help from?
It is undeniable that education plays an essential role in a country’s development. The neglect of children’s education is like refusing to support a car with gasoline, and this unforgivable mistake will certainly cause fearful disasters to our country which is hard to imagine. What is easier to understand is that a car cannot even be started without gasoline, not to mention speeding. In fact, according to a report released by SIC, our government spends 20% of the GDP in education compared with 31% in developed country. Therefore, the government can improve the worsening situation by(with) financial means, (which) is not impossible.
In conclusion, government should pay the tuition fees and only by doing this can our nation be revitalized.下载本文
