Dongdong: What's wrong with you? 

Tino: I'm very hungry. 

Billy: Me, too. It's already one thirty. 

Billy: Oh, there's a snack bar on the corner. Let's have lunch there. 

Sandy: Yes, let's.   

Tino: Hi, 3PO. Glad to see you here. 

3PO: Hi, Tino. How is it going? 

Tino: Just great!  

3PO:  I'm looking for a  snack bar. 

Tino: Oh, we're going there. Let's go together.

Sandy: What would you like to eat? 

Dongdong: I'd like a hamburger, some french fries, and a Coke. 

Billy: That's okay with me. 

Cashier: Can I help you? 

Sandy: Yes, please. I'd like three hamburgers, six french fries, and five apple pies. 

Cashier: Anything to drink? 

Sandy: Four Cokes and two orange juices, please. 

Cashier: For here or to go? 

Sandy: For here, please. 

Cashier: OK. Here you are. Enjoy your lunch. 

Lesson 2 What do you want to be?

Dongdong: Whose violin is this? 

Sandy: It's Cody's. She always practices the violin after school. 

Dongdong: What do you usually do after school? 

Sandy: I usually clean my room. Sometimes I help my mom cook.  

Sandy: How about you? 

Dongdong: I usually go swimming at the pool.  

Sandy: Do you want to be a swimmer? 

Dongdong: No, I don't. It's just my hobby.

Sandy: What do you want to be? 

Dongdong: I want to be a pilot. I want to fly planes. 

Jane: That sounds great. I want to be an engineer. 

Sandy: What do you want to do? 

Jane: I want to design spaceships. 

Tino: Wow, that's fantastic! I never thought about my job. 

Jane: Don't be so sad, Tino. We're always with you. 

Lesson 3  She's a vet  

Let's Have Fun 1    

Ms. Otto: Today is the last day of our class. 

                I want to hear your plans for the vacation. 

Ms. Otto: Do you have good plans for the vacation, Sandy? 

Sandy: Yes, I'm going to visit Wonder Land with my family. 

Ms. Otto: That's good. What are you going to do, Jane? 

Jane: I'm going to learn Chinese. Mr. Chen will help me. 

Ms. Otto: What about you, Cody? 

Cody: I'm going to go to Australia. 

Ms. Otto: Good for you. You all have good plans.

Billy: Who lives in Australia? 

Cody: My uncle lives there.   

Sandy: What does your uncle do? 

Cody: My uncle is a farmer and my aunt is a vet. 

Jane: A vet?  

Cody: Yeah. She takes care of animals. 

Sandy: What are you going to do there? 

Cody: I'll feed the animals and go to the beach. 

Sandy: Great! Have a nice trip. 

Cody: You, too. See you after vacation. 

Lesson 4   How long will you stay there?

Dad: Are you ready to go? 

Mom: Not yet. Let me check my list.  

Mom: Did you take your raincoats and umbrellas? 

Sandy: Don't worry, Mom. I'm ready to go.  

Tino: Oh, I forgot the camera. Who has the camera?  

Sandy: I have the camera. 

Dad: OK. Let's go to the airport.

Clerk: Good morning. Can I see your tickets, please? 

Dad: OK. Here you are.  

Clerk: How long will you stay in Wonder Land? 

Dad: For 2 weeks.  

Clerk: Are these three pieces your luggage? 

Dad: Yes, they are.   

Clerk: OK. Here are your boarding passes, Mr. Taylor. 

Dad: Thank you.                    

Lesson 5  Where is the gift shop?

Dad: Here we go!  We're in Wonder Land now! 

Sandy: It's awesome!  

Winky: Welcome to Wonder Land. 

Billy: What a surprise! I saw you in the picture.  

Sandy: I'll take a picture of you, Billy. 

Billy: That's cool.  

Sandy: Stand close to Winky and just smile. Don't move, Tino.

Sandy: Excuse me. Is there a gift shop near here?  

Man: I'm sorry? 

Sandy: Where is the gift shop?  

Man: Oh, the gift shop!   Go straight two blocks and turn right.  

You can find it on your left. 

Man: Well, let's see... 

Can you see that white building? 

Sandy: Yes, I can. 

Man: It's next to that building. 

Sandy: Thanks a lot. 

Lesson 6  How's the weather in Ellia? 

Let's Have Fun 1    

Mom: Oh, look at those clouds! 

Dad: But it's going to be fine in a minute.  

Sandy: Can we go out to meet Tino's friend? 

Mom: Yes. But don't go too far. 

Sandy: All right, Mom.  

Sandy: Oh, I felt a drop of rain. 

Billy: That's okay. It's not raining very hard. 

          Look! Tino likes to play in the rain. 

Winky: How's the weather in Ellia? 

Billy: It's warm and dry in the spring.

Sandy: Oh, look! The sun is coming out! 

Winky: Does it rain in Ellia? 

Billy: Yes, it does. We have lots of rain in the winter. 

Winky: Which season do you like best? 

Sandy: I like summer best. Summer is good for swimming.   

Sandy: Oh, it's pouring now. Let's go there and dry off. I got very wet.  

Lesson 7  How are you feeling now?

Dongdong: Hey, Billy! How was your vacation? 

Billy: It was fantastic. Oh, this is for you. 

Dongdong: Wow, it's a model of Wonder Land. 

Sandy: Achoo!  

Billy: How are you feeling now? 

Sandy: I don't feel well. 

Dongdong: What's wrong with you? 

Sandy: I have a slight fever and a runny nose. 

Dongdong: Sorry to hear that.  Take care of yourself, Sandy. 

Sandy: Thanks.

Sandy: Saturday August 20. Fine   

We came back here to Ellia today.Wonder Land! 

It was a wonderful planet.

Tino's friend, Winky showed us all around the planet. 

We went to the amusement park in Wonder Land.It was exciting.

We visited the museum, too. There were lots of interesting things.

Sometimes it rained a lot. I had a slight fever, but I'm getting better.  

Well, anyway, the summer vacation is over.
