As a creature, we should give top priority to environment; as a man, we should attach great importance to development. Since they are both important to us, we should strike a balance between them. So a sustainable development is what we pursue.

    Environment is our homeland. Can we live without her? we say “no” to the question without any hesitation .If we are dying to develop regardless of environment protection, the nature will revenge on us . We cut off trees, occupy cultivated land for buildings and reclaim land from a lake, only to reap what we sowed. Widespread flooding serves to indicate this.

    Therefore, it is not wise to develop at the cost of environmental protection. Deeds of environmental destruction are equal to kill the goose that lays golden eggs. From a long-term point of view, our descendants will be threatened by lack of land, resources, etc.

    On the contrary, we will benefit a lot if we persist in sustainable development. In this way, our needs can be satisfied as well as our descendants.

    Take the Silicon Valley for an example. It’s home to many large companies. These companies are applying their innovation to finding environmental solutions as well as achieving surprising growth in economy. They are also working with environmental protection organizations to lessen the impact of their manufacturing operations on the environment.

    Besides, more and more other leading companies and big cities have increasingly recognized the value of environmental protection. They are not as short-sighted as mice.
