West:

庄1.first Western culture is based on individualism rather than on mass (collectivism). For instance, in the US, you always talk about individual rights, instead of placing the whole society above your own self. This is clearly different in China where a country, society or family are placed above your own self.

刘Western culture is adventurous and exploration based. Westerners like to discover new things, invention and expand outwards. For instance, bungee jumping is considered adventurous and common in western culture, but you will probably find no-one doing such a thing in China.

邓 Western culture is based on science, which attempts to resolve people and nature's relationship. . To resolve the relationship betwen man and nature, the chinese attempts to fuse the human and 'heaven' as one. (天人和一)

李 West uses law to resolve people and people's relationship. You can never find 'law' well-established in China. For 2000 years, China is a land that's based on human relationship rather than law. 

so What can we do to treat the culture gap?

庄we cannot deny any of the cultures. Every nation has its own characteristics and it’s mainly through its culture that we first begin to know the nation and its characteristics. So we cannot say that this culture or custom is right and that is wrong. Equal respect should be attached to every culture in the world, even to those that are not in existence any more.

   刘we should get to learn how to coordinate the different cultures. We say the world is becoming smaller and smaller. More foreigners come and go everyday. When it is in the same country, the same city, the same neighborhood, the cultural collision is expected to be more serious. So we should try to avoid this happening. One important thing is to get some basic knowledge about the other cultures so as not to misunderstand some actions or habits of the foreigners.

 邓   When the fundamental is done, we can start to communicate. I mean we can take in some strong points from the foreign cultures. Though there doesn’t exist correctness in terms of culture, it does have the terms of more advanced or more suitable for the world nowadays. Of course, we cannot throw away our own culture and accept another one totally. Every culture is a treasure to the history of the Earth, so we should only pick out those we lack to perfect our own.

   李 Different cultures add the most colorful element to the world of 21st century. The cultural gap should not be the obstacle to the civilization of human being. It ought to be the motivation of our going farther.

庄However，we should also keep our own culture protected.

We can not deny the progress of human society.Meanwhile,we should pay attention to the ancient intangible cultural heritage and protect them from disappearing for they are one of the most important part of our Chinese culture.

             We should use various forms to recall our literatural and scientific intellents, propaganda them and their representative works to promote our traditional culture, and influence our descendants.

As for us students,we can take actions in our daily life. We can  make abstract culture easily accepted. For example, we can play the classical works,  hold  meaningful activities,  or  visit  historical sites to  strenghten our sense of protection. 

            The Chinese government has established a national "Cultural Heritage Day" ,which is celebrated annually on the second Saturday of June to make the public reconsider our old traditions.下载本文
