JVJ new 8105, 8106 LED street light are made from 30W, 40W, 50W, 60W, 80W high power integrated circuit package LED, which has long lifespan and are maintain free. As LED street light are electricity saving with low voltage and small current, we can reduce the section of the installation cable so that the installation cost can be reduced.
A complet street lighting system is made up of light sourse, cable, and power supply system.
1, Comparison betweem LED street light and traditional street light:
Assuming that there is a city with 3 roads which are 3km, 5km, and 10km, we install one street light in every 30m on each side of the road. The total amount of street lights needed in this 3 roads are 202pcs, 333pcs, and 666pcs. Now we began to compare 250W traditional HPS lamp and 50W LED lamp.
The unit price of HPS lamp is USD149, the unit price of LED street light is USD447. The cost of installing HPS street lamps in the 3 road mentioned above are: 202x$149=$30098; 333x$149=49617; 666x$149=99234. The cost of installing LED street lamps in the 3 road mentioned above are: 202x $447= $90294;333x$447= $148851; 666x$447= $297702(Table 1)

Let’s analyse the cable costs of the two kinds of lamps in the 3 road.:
2.1, Installing HPS street lamps in 3km road, the current load in the cable is I=P/U= 202x250/220=230A, it requirs 60mm² copper core cable,which unite price is $18/ m. Meaning that the total cable cost would be $18x3000m=$54000. Installing LED street lamps in 3km road, the current load in the cable is I=P/U=202x50/220=44A, it requirs 12mm² copper core cable,which unite price is $1.8/ m. Meaning that the total cable cost would be $1.8x3000m=$5400.
2.2, Installing HPS street lamps in 5km road, the current load in the cable is I=P/U= 333x250/220=377A, it requirs 90mm² copper core cable,which unite price is $27/ m. Meaning that the total cable cost would be $27x5000m=$135,000. Installing LED street lamps in 5km road, the current load in the cable is I=P/U=333x50/220=73A, it requirs 20mm² copper core cable,which unite price is $3.7/ m. Meaning that the total cable cost would be $3.7x5000m=$18,500
2.3, Installing HPS street lamps in 10km road, the current load in the cable is I=P/U= 666x250/220=680A, it requirs 40mm² copper core cable,which unite price is $53/ m. Meaning that the total cable cost would be $53x10000m=$500,000. Installing LED street lamps in 10km road, the current load in the cable is I=P/U=666x50/220=146A, it requirs 42mm² copper core cable,which unite price is $8.8/ m. Meaning that the total cable cost would be $8.8x10000m=$88,000.( Table 2)

Traditional HPS street lamp requires a huge power supply system. First, large power transformers are very expensive. Second, the voltage of traditional lamp is not allowed to fluctuate too much otherwise it would reduce the lifespan of the lamp.
But the driver module used in LED street lamps doesn’t requir large power transformers, the brightness of LED street lamp will not change even if the voltage fluctuate.
4. Comparison of Energy saving between LED street light and traditional HPS street light.
Let’s calculate the cost of electicity consumption in a year when using this two kinds of street lamps in the 3 road. Assuming that the lamps are turned on 10hrs a day, $0.2 every kilowatt-hour of electricity.
The cost of electicity consumption in a year when using HPS lamp in 3km road is: 202pcs X 10hrs X 365days X 250W= 184325000w, meaning 184325 kilowatt-hour of electricity, totally $36.865. When using LED lamp in 3km road is: 202*50*10*365=36,865,000W, meaning 36865 kilowatt-hour of electricity, totally $7,373
The cost of electicity consumption in a year when using HPS lamp in 5km road is: 333pcs X 10hrs X 365days X 250W= 303862500w, meaning 303863 kilowatt-hour of electricity, totally $60,773. When using LED lamp in 5km road is: 333*50*10*365=60,772,500W,meaning 60,773 kilowatt-hour of electricity, totally $12,155
The cost of electicity consumption in a year when using HPS lamp in 10km road is: 666pcs X 10hrs X 365days X 250W= 607,725,000w, meaning 607,725 kilowatt-hour of electricity, totally $121,545. When using LED lamp in 5km road is: 666*50*10*365=121,545,000W,meaning 121,545 kilowatt-hour of electricity, totally $24,309. ( Table 3):

The lifespan of Traditional HPS street lamp is usually 3000hrs-4000hrs, but the lifespan of LED street lamp is usually 60000hrs. It’s 15 times of traditional one. In other words, traditional HPS street lamp need to be replaced 15 times while LED lamp to be replaced one time. And actually, the cost of LED street light installation are much lower than the cost of traditional light installation.
