I am so appreciating my daughters today and all that we learned while we were growing together. I am especially grateful for the activities that centered on kindness and brought joy to us at the same time.
At one time we decided to bake bread for the homeless munity(社区) on the beach near our home. We took 2 days during each week to bake mini loaves of bread and also took cheese of each person. As this project went on (eventually for more than two years), one of my daughters started having short conversations with each person she gave bread to.
Eventually we brought some playing cards and checkers and played with some of the people, too. Soon several of our friends joined us and we began to make full lunches once a week for this munity.
Years later when I saw one of the previous free lunch receivers, they would e up to me, share a nice memory from that time as well as how much the kindness meant to them and have some friendship with children, too. We had great fun together.
Both of my daughters, now grown with kids of their own, still take time to do kind things for others and munity service projects and then share that with me. I am grateful for a focus away from self and to find real joy and purpose in being kind.

The Internet plays a big part in human life. We use it for work and entertainment. We can find new recipes on the Internet or advice on staying healthy. We can even use it to learn a new language and connect with family and friends.
As far as the Internet being a part of our lives — well, that train has left the station. This expression means there is no going back to an Internet-free life. But can using the Internet too much be bad for our health? It might be, say researchers.
A new study finds that heavy Internet use may be connected to high blood pressure in an unlikely group — teenagers. The study results show that teens who spend at least 14 hours a week online were more likely to have high blood pressure. High blood pressure can cause heart and kidney(肾)disease. It is also closely linked to some forms of dementia(痴呆), a brain disease. Dementia is marked by memory disorders, personality changes, and a reduced ability to reason.
The Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan did the study. 335 young people from 14 to 17 years old participated in it. One hundred and thirty-four of the teens were described as “heavy Internet users.” Researchers found that out of these 134 teens, 26 had high blood pressure.
The lead researcher of the study is Andrea Cassidy-Bushrow. In a statement she said, “Using the Internet is part of our daily life but it shouldn’t consume us.” For the purpose of the study, she explains, teens considered heavy Internet users were online on “average 25 hours a week.” Ms. Cassidy-Bushrow adds that it is important for teens to take “regular breaks from their puters or smartphones” and to do some “kind of physical activity.”

A man thirsts for adventure. Often the journey is the destination itself, and you can learn a lot from a brief adventure into the wild. Here are four types of outdoor adventures that every man should attempt to take.
1. The Ascent(登高)

Unable to turn its fortunes around, Yahoo is reportedly thinking about selling its pioneering Internet business.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday that Yahoo’s board will meet several times this week, during which the pany’s directors will consider whether to sell Yahoo’s profitable share in Alibaba, the pany’s core (核心) Internet business, or both. Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer has struggled to reverse Yahoo’s years-long decline in sales. The Internet portal’s(门户网站的) bread-and-butter advertising business has recently been surpassed(超越) by Google and , and the gap between them is only widening.
The pany has gone through many attempts at a reform over the past decade, choosing to get rid of its once leading search business, then deciding to focus on its media capitals, then putting emphasis on its apps and services — all ending with the same result: Yahoo is failing to take advantage of its massive audience and transform those eyeballs into growing ad sales.
