Wolf

Once there was a boy who lived on a farm. Every day he had to take his father’s sheep to a hill. One day he tried to play a trick on the other people. He said to himself. I will call “wolf. wolf.” then everyone come to help me. It will be fun when they find out there is no wolf after all. So he cried: “wolf .wolf.” and everyone ran to help him. When they came he just said: “there is no wolf. It was only a joke.” He did this three times. Then one day a wolf really came. “Help! Help! The wolf is here.” called the boy. But everyone said: “No you know that there is no wolf. He is just calling us for fun. There is no danger.” So they did not go to help the boy. The wolf killed all the sheep then.

狼来了

从前，有一个住在农场里的孩子。每天，他都要带他父亲的羊到山上去放。

一天，他想对其他人开一次玩笑。他自言自语说道：“我要叫“狼呀！狼呀！”那么，人人都会来帮我的了。如果，他们发现根本没有狼，那么多有趣呀！”

因此他叫道：“狼呀！狼呀！”每个人都跑去帮助他。

当他们来到的时候，他只是说：“这里没有狼，这只是一个玩笑。”

他这样做了三次。

然后，有一天，一只狼真的来了。

“救命！救命！狼来了！”男孩子叫道．

但人人都说：“我们知道那儿没有狼。他只不过是因为好玩而叫我们。那里没有危险的。”

于是，他们没有去帮助那个男孩子。狼便把所有的羊都咬死了。

The Father and His Sons

Father had a family of sons who were perpetually quarrelling among themselves. When he failed to heal their disputes by his exhortations, he determined to give them a practical illustration of the evils of disunion; and for this purpose he one day told them to bring him a bundle of sticks. When they had done so, he placed the faggot into the hands of each of them in succession, and ordered them to break it in pieces. They each tried with all their strength, and were not able to do it.

一位父亲有几个孩子，这些孩子时常发生口角。他丝毫没有方法来劝止他们，只好让他们看看不合群所带来坏处的例子。为了达到这个目标，有一天他叫他们替他拿一捆细柴来。当他们把柴带来时，他便先后地将那捆柴放在每一个孩子的手中，嘱咐他们弄断这捆柴。他们一个个努力去试，总是不能胜利。

He next unclosed the faggot, and took the sticks separately, one by one, and again put them into their hands, on which they broke them easily. He then addressed them in these words: "My sons, if you are of one mind, and unite to assist each other, you will be as this faggot, uninjured by all the attempts of your enemies; but if you are divided among yourselves, you will be broken as 

easily as these sticks."

A poor pig

Danny is a little pig . He is unhappy because he wants to leave home to see the world .

It’s a sunny day . Danny goes away when his parents are sleeping . on his way he meets an elephant , a peacock and a rabbit . At last , he gets to a lake . He looks at his reflection in the water and says, “I wish I have an elephant’s nose , a peacock’s tail and a rabbit’s ears .” after a while , Danny’s wish comes true . He runs back excitedly .

But his parents can’t recognize Danny , “Go away , you’re not our son .” Danny goes to the lake again . “ I just want to be a pig .” He says sadly .Danny waits and waits . He becomes a pig again .

Danny runs back quickly . His parents hug and say , “ This is our lovely baby .”

可怜的小猪
