This meeting’s topic is about developing skills for intercultural communication and all of our group members were active to talk about it. We chatted a lot and we can get the conclusion.
First of all, tolerance of ambiguity means you should respect others even if they are different than you, behave different and maybe also talk different and it also means we have to deal with the unclarity nicely without attacking others. And behavioural flexibility, it’s the ability to adapt your own behaviour to different requirements and situations. Just like the story about young European man and the receptionist. The receptionist should advance her behavioural flexibility. And people should advance the behavioural flexibility and sometimes have to change their inertia thinking accroding to the different behaviours. About the communicative awareness ,which we think you should be aware of the way you communicate and preferably stick to what the customer is doing and it means we have to make sure our communication is acceptabled for the people you talking with. knowledge discovery means complementing each other and adding something new to the knowledge they have already. For example , like the English, you talk to somebody and they will bring in new words on top and you discover new knowledge. As for respect for otherness, we need to open our mind to accept the difference from others. And empathy is easy to say, it means to put your foot into other people's shoes and it needs people to observe carefully.
Last but not least, the world is cultural globalization and we should open our mind to know more about the intercultural knowledge and try to advance ourselves with skills of intercultural communication.下载本文
