1. convenient adj.便利的，方便的；近便的
(1) It is convenient (for sb.) to do sth. (某人)做某事方便。
be convenient for sb. / sth. 对某人/物来说是方便/近便的
(2) at one's convenience 在某人方便的时候
for ( the sake of) convenience为方便起见
e.g. ①It is convenient for me to go there. 我去那儿很方便。
② Our house is very convenient for our children's school. 我们家到孩子们的学校很近。
③ Can you telephone me at your convenience to arrange a meeting?
你能不能在你方便时给我来个电话，安排见一次面？
④ For (the sake of) convenience，the library books are separated into different categories. 为方便起见，图书馆的书被分成不同的类别。
温馨提示：convenient作表语时，不可用人作主语，要用物作主语或用it充当形式主语。表达“如果你方便的话”时，应用if it is convenient for you。表达“在你方便的时候”时，应用when it is convenient for you。
2. stuck adj. 卡住；陷（入）；困（于）
(1) be / get stuck in被困在……
be stuck with遇到困难无法进行下去；无法摆脱
(2) stick to 坚持；信守
e.g. ① Have you ever been stuck in a traffic jam? 你曾经遇上过堵车吗？
② Will you help me with this mathematical problem? I'm stuck with it. 这道数学题你能帮我一下吗？我怎么也解不出来。
③ I hated practicing, but I stuck to it and now I can play pretty well. 我讨厌练习，但还是坚持了下来，现在我演奏得很好。
It was getting dark; I found a car stuck in a pool by the side of the road. 天越来越晚了，我发现一辆车陷入公路边的池塘里。
温馨提示：表示“被困在……”的短语还有：be / get caught in; be / get trapped in; be / get locked in; be / get blocked in等。
3. benefit vi. 得益于 vt. 使受益 n. 益处，好处
(1). benefit from / by 获益，受益于
benefit sb. / sth. 对某人或某物有益，使某人或某物受益
(2) be of benefit 有益处
for the benefit of 为了……的利益或好处
have the benefit of 得益于，占……的光
e.g. ① We benefit from daily exercises. 我们得益于每天做操。
② Will the ADS patients benefit from / by the new drug? 这种药对艾滋病人有效吗?
③ What he said benefited all the students. 他说的话使所有的学生受了益。
This dictionary is of great benefit to students. 这本词典对学生很有益处。
He gave up smoking for the benefit of his health. 他戒烟是为了对健康有益。

4. distance n．距离； 路程； 远方
(1) in the distance 在远方， 在远处
at a distance 在稍远处

(2) distant adj. 遥远的；(指人)远亲的；冷淡的
e.g. ① Because of the heavy fog, I couldn't recognize the person in the distance. 因为浓雾，我不能认出在远处的那个人。

5. access n．通道； (使用、查阅、接近或面见的)机会vt.使用；获取；进入
(1) access to... ……的通路；利用……的权利
have / get access to (拥有或得到)……的权利/机会
(2) accessible adj. 可进入的；可使用的
be accessible to 易接近的；能进入的
e.g. ① The World Wide Web is a computer network that allows computer users to access information from millions of websites via the Internet. 万维网是一种电脑网络，它使电脑用户通过因特网从数百万的网站上获取信息。
② You can access the Internet from your mobile phone. 你可以用手机上网。
The only access to the farmhouse is across the fields. 去那个农舍的唯一通路是穿过田野。
Kids shouldn’t have access to violent films because they might copy the things they see. 小孩不应该看暴力影片，因为他们可能会模仿他们看到的事情。

③ Allowing ourselves to go through the grief process helps us to adapt to life. 让自己度过这个悲伤的过程能够帮助我们去适应生活。

The new law did not go through. 新法案未能通过。
