一、冠词用法概述
1.冠词离开名词就没有任何意义，因此在学习冠词前首先要了解名词的分类：名词分为可数名词和不可数名词。
2.冠词分为定冠词the和不定冠词a,an.
3.冠词的泛指、特指、类指、专指
1泛指是指首次提到的，不限定的人或事物。
②特指是指在上文已提到的人或事物，或是指被性修饰语在其后加以限定的人或事物，也可以是指说话双方心目中所默认的特定的人或事物。
③类指是指具有共同性质或典型特征的事物的一个类别。
④专指是指类别中的一员或一部分具体事物。
二、冠词的基本用法
1.单数可数名词前一定要有冠词：
Ⅰ.a(n) ：⑴ 泛指单一、每一、任一事物；
⑵类指
Ⅱ.the：①特指上文提到过的人或事物；
被性修饰语所限定的人或事物；
说话双方所默认的人或事物；
世界上独一无二的事物。
2 专指
③类指
eg.A horse is a useful animal.=The horse is a useful animal.
2.复数可数名词和不可数名词：
Ⅰ.the：①特指上文提到过的人或事物；
被性修饰语所限定的人或事物；
说话双方所默认的人或事物;
②专指
Ⅱ.零冠词：①不可数名词和复数名词表泛指时前面用零冠词。
Animals can’t live without water.
Horses are domestic animals.
②某些专有名词，如人名、地名、国名、物质名词、抽象名词前面用零冠词。 China is a great country.
Mary live in New York.
3名词前已有指示代词、屋主代词、不定代词或名词所有格等修饰时，用零冠词。
Every students likes English in our class.
注意：月、季、星期、节假、洲、头衔、职务、三餐、球类、学科、棋类名词前零冠词。
三、冠词的活用
⒈表世上独一无二的事物的名词前一般加the；但如果名词前有修饰语，也可能用a/an. the world /a peaceful world
⒉表一日三餐的名词前一般不加the；但如果名词前有修饰语，也可能用a/an. have supper/have a wonderful supper
⒊表示语言的名词前一般不加the；但如果语言后有language,前面需加the. Chinese/the Chinese language
⒋表节日的名词前一般不加the；但如果有festival,则前需加the

⒌形容词比较级前用the表示“两者当中较…的”，而形容词比较级前用a/an,表示“再/更…”。形容词最高级前用the表示“三者或三者以上中最…的”，且有表示范围的in或of短语。而形容词最高级前用a/an,并无比较含义。 Which is the larger country,Canada or Australia？
It is a most useful book.（a very useful book）
⒍“the＋序数词”表排序，“a/an＋序数词”不表排序，而表“又一，再一”；
⒎the＋姓氏复数词表示…一家子人/…夫妇两；a＋姓氏/姓名单数表示一个名叫…的人；the＋形容词/分词指一类人。Eg.the Smiths /a Jonson/ the poor（living,wounded）
注意：success,failure前加a；idea,means of前用a/an.
