　　The assin the lion's skin

　　An Ass found a Lion's Skin, and dressed himself up in it. Then he went about frightening every one he met, for they all took him to be a lion, men and beasts alike, and took to their heels when they saw him coming. Elated by the success of his trick, he loudly brayed in triumph. The Fox heard him, and recognised him at once for the Ass he was, and said to him, "Oho, my friend, it's you, is it? I, too, should have been afraid if I hadn't heard your voice."

　　⼀头驴发现了⼀张狮⼦的⽪，于是就披到⾝上。他⾛出去吓唬其它动物，所有见到他的⼈和动物都把他当成狮⼦，吓得四处逃跑。驴见⾃⼰的诡计得逞了。兴奋地⼤叫起来。狐狸听到他的声⾳，⽴刻认出这是⼀头驴，于是就对他说：“哦，朋友，这才是真正的你，是吗?要不是听到了你的声⾳，我也被你吓着了。”突然⼀阵风刮来，把驴⾝上披着的狮⼦⽪吹⾛了，驴⼦原形毕露。这时，动物们见此情形，⼜都跑回来，⽤⽊板和棍棒狠狠地打他。

　　Three Good Friends One day, a monkey rides his bike near the river. This time he sees a lion under a tree. The lion runs at him. He is afraid and falls into the river. He can’t swim. He shouts. The rabbit hears him. He jumps into the river. The rabbit swims to the monkey, but he can’t help him. Luckily, an elephant comes along. He is very strong. He helps the rabbit and monkey. Three friends are very happy. They go to the elephant’s home. Then, three of them become good friends.

　　⼀天，⼀只猴⼦在河边骑车。这时他看见树下有⼀只狮⼦，狮⼦向他跑来。他⾮常的害怕，掉进河⾥。他不会游泳，⼤叫起来。兔⼦听见了，跳进⽔⾥，但他却没有办法救猴⼦。幸运的是，⼀只⼤象过来了。⼤象⾮常强壮，救出了兔⼦和猴⼦。他们来到⼤象的家，在那⾥吃了⼀顿⼤餐。从此他们成了好朋友。

　　The peasant and the apple-tree

　　A Peasant had an Apple-tree growing in his garden, which bore no fruit, but merely served to provide a shelter from the heat for the sparrows and grasshoppers which sat and chirped in its branches. Disappointed at its barrenness he determined to cut it sparrows and the grasshoppers saw what he was about to do, they begged him to spare it, and said to him, “If you destroy the tree we shall have to seek shelter elsewhere, and you will no longer have our merry chirping to enliven your work in the garden.” He ,however, refused to listen to them, and set to work with a will to inside and contained a swarm of bees and a large store of honey. Delighted with his find he threw down his axe, saying, “The old tree is worth keeping after all.”

　　Utility is most men’s test of worth.

　　农夫和苹果树

　　有⼀个农夫，他的园⼦⾥有⼀棵苹果树，这棵树并不茂盛，只能为⿇雀和蝉提供⼀个可栖息的地⽅，让他们坐在枝桠上歇息和喋喋不休地。农夫认为这棵树没有什么⼤⽤处，决定把它砍掉，于是便拿起斧头⾛过去砍起树来。然⽽，那些蝉和⿇雀看到农夫的⾏为后，便请求农夫留下这棵树，并且对他说：“如果你砍掉这棵树，我们还得另外再找⼀个窝，⽽你也不会在园⼦⾥⼲活时听到我们为你⿎劲的欢快歌声了。”农夫没理睬他们，继续拿起斧头砍起这棵树，⼏斧下去之后，树上出现⼀个洞，他发现树洞⾥有蜂蜜和蜂巢。他⾼兴地连忙抛下斧头，说：“这棵树还真是值得保留下来。”

　　寓意：实⽤性是⼤多数⼈对价值的检验。

　　I love listening to my great-grandma's stories, so I didn't object when she started to tell me a story about one of her strange experiences over a glass of iced tea.

　　My Great-Great Grand-dad died in 1918 at the age of 48 when he fell off of a galloping1 horse. My Great Grandma was only 17 when this happened. The story goes that at the get together after the funeral, a strange man showed up. No one had seen him at the funeral, or anytime else for that matter. He stayed for a long time, hardly talking to anybody, and refusing totake off his coat and hat. When my Great-Great aunt pointed2 out to this man that, for the life of her, she could not recall who he was, he became absolutely livid and ran from the house. You can imagine how strange this seemed to everybody.

　　Curiosity got the best of Great grandma and she decided3 to follow this strange man outside to see where he had gone. She stepped outside and proceeded out into the middle of the yard, but she stopped short because the strangest sight met her eyes.the man was standing4 quietly on the roof of the barn, just about 5 yards away, illuminated5 only by the moonlight. She remembers that he had an unnatural6 gleam to his eyes, and when the clouds passed over the moon, and the night was pitch black, that gleam remained.

　　我喜欢听曾祖母讲故事。有⼀天喝茶的时候，她要给我讲⼀个她所经历过的奇怪事情，当然我是不会反对的。

　　曾祖母的⽗亲是在1918年去世的，那年他48岁，从⼀匹烈马上⾯摔了下来，当时曾祖母才仅仅17岁。故事发⽣在葬礼过后⼤家⼀起说话的时候。有个奇怪的男⼈出现了，没有⼈在葬礼上见过这个⼈，并且也没在别的什么时候看见过他。他出现以后呆了很长时间，没和任何⼈说话，也不愿意脱下外套。这时姨姥姥对他说，⾃⼰这些年从来没有见过他⽽且也不知道他是谁，他突然变得脸⾊铁青，随即跑了出去。你可以想象的到，⼈们对眼前的这⼀幕会是多么奇怪。

　　好奇⼼占据了曾祖母的内⼼，她决定去看个明⽩。于是她跟了出去来到院⼦，但是⼀看到眼前奇怪的情景…差不多五码以外的地⽅，那个⼈静静地站在粮仓的屋顶上，在⽉光的照耀下格外醒⽬。曾祖母记得刚才看见他的眼睛⾥有⼀道很不⾃然的亮光，随后乌云遮住了⽉亮，夜晚变得更⿊，那道光就⼜出现了

　　Monkeys fishing month

　　One day,a little monkey is playing by the well.

　　He looks in the well and shouts :

　　“Oh!My god!The moon has fallen into the well!”

　　An older monkeys runs over, takes a look,and says,

　　“Goodness me!The moon is really in the water!”

　　And olderly monkey comes over.

　　He is very surprised as well and cries out:

　　“The moon is in the well.”

　　A group of monkeys run over to the well .

　　They look at the moon in the well and shout:

　　“The moon did fall into the well!Come on!Let’get it out!”

　　Then,the oldest monkey hangs on the tree up side down ,with his feet on the branch .

　　And he pulls the next monkey’s feet with his hands.

　　All the other monkeys follow his suit,

　　And they join each other one by one down to the moon in the well.

　　Just before they reach the moon,the oldest monkey raises his head and

　　happens to see the moon in the sky,

　　He yells excitedly “Don’t be so foolish!The moon is still in the sky!”

　　猴⼦捞⽉

　　⼀天，有只⼩猴⼦在井边玩⼉。

　　它往井⾥⼀瞧，⾼喊道：噢!我的天!⽉亮掉到井⾥头啦!

　　⼀只⼤猴⼦跑来⼀看，说，　　“糟啦!⽉亮掉在井⾥头啦!” ⽼猴⼦也跑过来。

　　他也⾮常惊奇，喊道：

　　“糟了，⽉亮掉在井⾥头了!” ⼀群猴⼦跑到井边来，

　　他们看到井⾥的⽉亮，喊道：

　　⽉亮掉在井⾥头啦!快来!让我们把它捞起来

　　然后，⽼猴⼦倒挂在⼤树上，拉住⼤猴⼦的脚，
