Neoclassical period : is the one in English literature between the return of the Stuarts (斯图亚特王室) to the English throne (君主,王座) in 1660 and the full assertion( 主张) of Romanticism which come with publication of “ Lyrical Ballads “(抒情诗) by wordsworth and Coleridge in1798. Was born into a poor tinker’s family & received little formal education. When he still little boy , he tool up his father’s trade. He was thrown into prison in 1660 for praching (布道) without receiving the permision for the the Established Church. And died in 1688 from a bad fever.
Bunyan’s style was modeled after that of the English Bible. Henry Fielding /P118
His first try his luck at play writing. And during a span of 9 years ( 1729-37) . He turn out 26 plays and became the most successful living playwright (剧作家) of the time.
