1.Introduction
With the fast-paced changes brought by globalization, the postgraduates’ and enterprises’ requirements for English is higher and higher. At present, postgraduate education in China carries vital responsibilities to train professional talents who are with the international vision, familiar with international rules in professional field and directly involve in the international communication(Huang, Zheng, & Li, 2012, pp. 57-60). Mastering English skills is essential for people working in the enterprises as it is the means for communicating with foreigners and getting useful information, and for increasing employees’ job opportunities in this international industry(Sayed, Muhammad, & Abdel, 2012, p.93). However, the problem is what are details in the postgraduates’ and enterprises’ requirement for English and whether the school’s course arrangement can meet the needs. I think that’s what every postgraduate concerns about.
2. Literature review
According to the previous survey, many great colleges in China such as Tsinghua University, offer academic English courses for non-English major graduate aim to improve postgraduates’ ability of learning, research and international exchanges in their professional field ( Zhang & Liu, 2011).On the contrary, postgraduates in some colleges still lack of communication ability in academic English (Zeng, Liao, Xian, & Lu, 2013, pp. 79-83) and their schools need to optimize course setup. Survey shows that curriculum designs in most universities are based on the reshaping or adaptation of existing ones, rather than the social and individual learning needs (Yang, 2011).
There are many differences in the curriculum and the students’ level of different schools. To cater to the needs of the students in our school, it's necessary to know what’s going on about postgraduates and enterprises.
3. Significance of research
On the basis of requirement analysis for Long’s learning(2011),the curriculum must be closely related to the learning requirements, otherwise, the course content or too deep, too shallow, deviated from the real needs of the learners.
In our project, we will collect the date about what the postgraduates’ and enterprises’ requirements are and details of course setup in Qingdao University. In particular, we will focus on whether our school’s course arrangement can meet the needs of enterprises and students. If the answer is negative, we will analyze how to optimize course arrangement. We think this survey is very meaningful to postgraduates in Qingdao University or to enterprises.
4. Methodology
Our survey will be conducted in the form of questionnaire that we design two kind of .One is about postgraduates’ English level and requirements and school’s courses and is sent randomly to postgraduates in Qingdao University. The other is related to enterprises’ requirements for English and handed out to workers at random. Questionnaires are sent in the Internet and finally the Internet will give us the final statistics.
Due to the huge numbers of school postgraduates and workers, we can’t guarantee that everybody has been investigated.

Select and decide on the topic: Nov. 14th, 2013
Design the questionnaire: from Nov. 24th to Nov. 26th
Research Proposal: from Nov. 23th to Nov. 27th
Send questionnaires: from Nov. 27th to Nov. 30th
Data processing and analysis:from Dec. 1st to Dec. 3rd
The survey report: from Dec. 1st to Dec. 8th
6. Conclusions
Research background, significance of research, literature review, methodology and timetable have been provided in this proposal, aiming to better show our survey.
