What is love? I think that there isn’t a standard answer because different people have their different understanding and definitions, which we often base from our own experiences and feelings. In my mind, love is understanding.

When you try to understand someone, it means that you are willing to consider problems from the person’s perspective, which is, for me, love. 

My mother is the one that always understand and support me. There is no doubt that she loves me and she always shows her love by understanding me. I once got a very poor grade in an important examination, which made me very disappointed. But my mom didn’t blame me at all. Instead she analyzed the paper carefully for me and encouraged me. She said to me:” I know you have been studying hard these days. Don’t be stressed. I believe you can do better the next time!” I felt deeply loved through my mother’s understanding.

Moreover, when you try to understand someone, it means that you are ready to make a compromise. In other words, you would like to make sacrifices for this person, which is also love in my opinion.

There is another example from my mother. When I went on to the 12th grade, I became under great pressure of study and I often stayed up late to do endless exercises. I wanted my mom to massage my face after I went to sleep. My father didn’t agree at first because my mother would sleep much later, but my mother didn’t mind at all. She told me that she understood my tiredness and stress, so she was very willing to massage for me to make me relaxed after a busy day.

 Marge Piercy beautifully said, "Life is the first gift, love is the second and understanding is the third." But I think it is understanding that brings about love and love is understanding.

love is a mysterious and a complicated force. love is many different things. each of us have our own understanding of love is, and most of the time we base our definitions from feelings and experiences

What is love? Love has diversity of meanings in eyes' of different people. For me, love is understanding

Marge Piercy beautifully said, "Life is the first gift, love is the second and understanding is the third." But it is love that gives us life and understanding that brings about love.

When you have different opinions with your friends, you might not argue with them, instead, you can respect their views and try to look at the things from their perspectives. This is understanding, which is rooted in the love.下载本文
