Learning that you failed to attend the lecture on the introduction to the famous physicist-Steven Hawking, I am writing to tell you something about it.
Born in Britain in January 1941, Hawking showed great interest in science when he was young. After graduation from University of Oxford, he went to University of Cambridge for further study, specializing in cosmology, during which, he was unfortunately struck by a severe disease, leaving him in a wheelchair for the rest of his life and later totally unable to speak in 1985.
In spite of this, not only did he face the misfortune positively, but he also managed to overcome all the obstacles, which sets a good example to the whole world. What’s more, with great efforts and perseverance, he successfully published several works, among which, A Brief History of Time, is best received and highly praised. Hawking, having made great contributions to the theory of cosmology, is regarded as the most outstanding physicist in the 21st century.
