There is no doubt that crime is becoming increasingly common in many areas. To drop the rates of violent crimes, some experts hint that the authority should control violent scenery in films and on television. I do not agree with their belief.
To begin with, every person has his own right to choose which film to watch. Undoubtedly, it is citizen rather than government who can decide his entertainment. The authority should not deprive the citizen’s right to watch violent scenery. Additionally, it makes people easier to understand how criminals carry out their criminal plans through watching blood scenery, which helps law-abiding citizens acquire knowledge about protecting themselves against crime. The more awareness they gain, the safer they will be. Last but not least, violence can effectively advance the popularity of the film or television among specific audiences, enabling the media to make more money and create more job opportunity. Consequently, the media can make more educational movie which benefits the society. And facing economic depression, a democratic
progressive government should give priority to decrease unemployment.By contrast, I have to admit that overbalanced violence will do harm to social harmony. Risk exists that potential criminals may be ignited. It is possible that detailed blood scenery will further drive up the already high crime rate. Fortunately, certain measures will be taken to help people establish their awareness to avoid such tragedy.
In sum, for these reasons, I still tend to state that there is no need to reduce violence in film and television. Besides, we can take effective steps to alleviate this modern-day issue.下载本文
