Firstly, youngsters who live in cities are able to go to museums and aquariums to broaden their education. Besides they have more access to various forms of entertainment. Although these services typically exist in small towns, city facilities tend to be more expensive and well-equipped.Secondly,pupils in large cities tend to meet and get to know people of different races, various religions, diverse social classes, etc. But this is less true in a minor town.So this allows children who grow up in cities to be more prepared for life in a diverse society.Thirdly, urban children can have access to better healthcare.By nature cities are the homes of the best hospitals and medical research facilities. Similarly, most cities have better clinics for children’s dental and health problems that might be ignored in a small town. What’s more, children who are growing up in metropolises often have more independence than children growing up in small towns because public transportation systems are so much better and because children can, at a much younger age, explore in their cities even on foot. For example, urban children are able to go to the library or museum on their own, pick up a quart of milk at the supermarket on foot, or get on a bus to go to downtown areas at fairly young ages. They feel like the entire city is their turf, which fosters greater independence.Last but not least, growing up in a city offers more life chances in terms of opportunities. There are greater educational opportunities, more contacts, a better range of employment and so on.However, there is simply nothing in rural towns. There is no choice of public transports,no choice of supermarkets and no choice at all.
In conclusion, because of poverty and backwardness in small rural towns, it is better for children to grow up in a big urban city than to grow up in a small rural town.下载本文
